Grades 1-4 This how-to manual in the Colorful Crayola Crafts series (4 titles) models 10 eye-catching crafts that can be assembled using basic art supplies: crayons (of course) plus paper, glue, cardboard boxes, googly eyes, duct tape, and so on. Each project has step-by-step directions, accompanied by color photographs that show stages and finished products (a castle, clay fortune cookies, puppets, animal costumes, etc.). Readers are encouraged to use their imaginations and branch out, adding their own details or making their own detours to come up with new variations. While intended for kids in elementary grades, the projects, in most cases, will need adult help to be successfully assembled. Many of the directions require intuitive leaps to get to the next step, and the accompanying illustrations are somewhat limited. QR codes link to craft-specific websites, offering additional guidance, although a filmy square bearing the name of the project floats distractingly over each photo. Having said that, these undertakings are fresh and easily adaptable.
